Welcome to the second edition of the Italian Generally Championship!
Generally is the great racing game created by Hannu e Jukka Räbinä.
After the big success of the first season, the competition with 1vs1 matches is back! And you don't need to be Italian at all to join!
To join, just send an email to generally@email.it specifying your nickname, your email and the two colors you use for your car (chose among white, black, red, yellow, blue, green, orange and violet)... and you'll be in! Look at the drivers' list.
In the download page you'll find the tracks to use in the competition.
In the statistcs page there are all the classifications and match results.

- CHAMPIONSHIP RULES -

1. GENERAL

1.1 ENROLMENT
To participate the championship you need:
1) to Register
2) to Attend this official site, where you'll find, in the download section, the necessary material for the competitions.

1.2 RULES OF THE COMPETITION
This is a Hotlap Competition. Times should be carried out exclusively with the cars found in the packet downloaded from this site. Races will be in Time Trial (without opponents) and with the values of tyre and fuel consumption, etc. all set to 0, except for the game speed that should remain to 100%. Only the best lap counts.

It will be forbidden: to cut across the pit lane, to rebound against the walls (wall bouncing) gaining benefit, to use shortcuts. In case the track permits it, cutting inside of the curves is allowed.

1.3 PREPARING AND SENDING THE TIMES
Once finished the desired laps, press ESC and save the game with this name: “nickname_trackname.gam”. When you are satisfied of your time, rename the track file (.trk) adding your nickname (“nickname_trackname.trk"). You'll have two files for each track (one with extension .trk and one with extension .gam). Lastly, zip all and send it to generally@email.it

2. THE FIRST PHASE

All of the members will take part to the first phase of the Championship. Moreover, the enrolments will stay open for all the duration of such phase, allowing to join also those who did not participate the first event.

The first phase will have a duration of 4 weeks. Every week, on wednesday evening, two tracks will be made available on this site. The file with the results (see section 1.3) should be sent within hours 23:00 GMT of sunday evening.

For each of the tracks, players will be assigned a score in the following manner:
1°: pt.30; 2°: pt.25; 3°: pt.22;
4°: pt.19; 5°: pt.16; 6°: pt.14; 7°: pt.12; 8°: pt.10;
9°: pt.9; 10°: pt.8; 11°: pt.7; 12°: pt.6; 13°: pt.5; 14°: pt.4; 15°: pt.3; 16°: pt.2;
pt.1 for all the others who have sent a regular time.

If two drivers have the same points, the position of the pilots in the Generally World Ranking (general Classification) will be taken into consideration. In case of further equality, the temporal order of enrolment to the Italian Championship will make the difference. The first 16 will be qualified to the next phase.

3. THE GROUPED PHASE

In this phase the pilots are divided in 4 groups of 4. The final classification of the first phase decides the composition of 4 "boxes": favorites (from 1° to 4°), first class (from 5° to 8°), second class (from 9° to 12°), third class (from 13° to 16°). The groups will be then formed drawing a name from each ballot box.

Pilots will face each other in 1 vs 1 challenges. Both the challengers will make their times on 2 tracks. The names of the tracks will be chosen by the pilots themselves in the pause week between the first and the second phase (see the next section 3.1) but will be published only on thursday evening every week. Only times made after thursday publication will be accepted, and they should be sent within hours 23:00 GMT of sunday.

3.1 SELECTION OF THE TRACKS
There will be a week of pause between the end of the first phase and the beginning of the second one. In this period the official track packet will be published. All 16 qualified drivers should communicate to the address generally@email.it a listing of the tracks in order of satisfaction, from the most liked to the worst. In the case of an incomplete or not received list, for the absent track names will be applied the alphabetical order.
In every group, each pilot will be assigned 3 tracks from the listing. The tracks will be taken from the top of the list, but they have to be always different from pilot to pilot, therefore the tracks that were already chosen by other drivers will be excluded: the weakest pilots will be given the priority.
Example: the first class pilot has put the track Agari in the first place, but it was already assigned to one of the pilots from a lower class, therefore we go to the second preference and so on, until three tracks not yet chosen from the others are found. Of the three tracks so defined, the lowest in the listing will be used in the first round, the second one in the second round, and the favorite one will be run in the last week.

3.2 1VS1 CHALLENGES
In each of the two tracks on which the competition takes place, a score is assigned (we will call it goals or "balls") to the swiftest pilot. The number of goals will be decided by the delay of the opponent (in percentage) :
until 100.2% excluded: 0 balls
from 100.2% until 101.2% excl.: 1 ball
from 101.2% until 102.0% excl.: 2 balls
from 102.0% until 103.0% excl.: 3 balls
from 103.0% until 104.0% excl.: 4 balls
from 104.0%: 5 balls

Some examples:
Pilot_A 10.34, Pilot_B 10.39
Pilot_A is the swiftest. The time of the opponent is 100.48% of his time, greater of 100.2% and minor of 101.2%, therefore Pilot_A conquest 1 ball.
Pilot_A 8.65, Pilot_B 8.45
The calculation is simple: the worse time divided the swiftest time, then multiply for 100. In this case the result is 102.36%, therefore Pilot_B marks 3 balls.
Pilot_A 21.12, Pilot_B 21.16
The Pilot_A is faster: how many goals does he score? We calculate 21.16/21.12 and we multiply for 100, obtaining 100.18%... the delay does not surpass the threshold of 100.2%, therefore Pilot_A earns no score.

If a driver does not send the data or sends them incomplete (see section 1.3) or his hotlap does not respect the rules (see section 1.2), his opponent will earn 4 balls (for every irregular track).

3.3 GROUP CLASSIFICATION
The player that obtains greater score wins the match. For every victory you are assigned 3 points, 1 point for every draw, 0 points in case of defeat.
If two players have the same points in the listing, goal difference is taken into consideration; in case of equality is considered the number of goal marked; in case of further equality, the listing of the first phase decides. At the conclusion of the 3 weeks of this this phase, the better two players of every group proceed to quarter finals.

4. THE FINAL PHASE

The matches of Quarter Finals, Semifinals and Finals use the same logic of those of the groups.
Tracks used in these matches are taken from a listing made putting together the preference lists all drivers sent in the previous phase.
In case of a draw, the total sum of the times on the two tracks is used. If also these times coincide, the player that obtained the best placement in the first phase proceeds.
